NATO naval forces have been tracking a group of Russian warships in the Celtic Sea and the North Sea over the past days.
The Russian warships included the Slava-class cruiser, Marshal Ustinov – the Udaloy-class destroyer, Vice-Admiral Kulakov and a support ship which are in the area following a deployment in the Mediterranean. NATO and Allied forces routinely track Russian navy vessels in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Earlier this year, Allies agreed to enhance NATOâs presence in the east of the Alliance by establishing four new multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia (in addition to the existing battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, which have been in place since 2017). From 16 to 18 September 2022, the Allied Chiefs of Defence gathered for their annual conference, in Tallinn, Estonia. For the first time, Finland and Sweden attended the Military Committee Conference as NATO Invitees.
