On Monday, 04 July 2022, the NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, will attend the change of command ceremony at the Allied Command Operations (ACO) in Mons, Belgium. United States Air Force General Tod D. Wolters will relinquish command of Allied Command Operations and Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe to U.S. Army General Christopher G. Cavoli.

Earlier this year, Allies agreed to enhance NATOâs presence in the east of the Alliance by establishing four new multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia (in addition to the existing battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, which have been in place since 2017). From 16 to 18 September 2022, the Allied Chiefs of Defence gathered for their annual conference, in Tallinn, Estonia. For the first time, Finland and Sweden attended the Military Committee Conference as NATO Invitees.
